Muralist, artist, and illustrator Estefanía Cox, better known as Fefa Cox, captures the power of nature and connects it to the human figure through unique watercolor portraits. In her work, she transforms her artistic vision into expressive works of art that are applied to exclusive products.
In this course, Fefa teaches you how to create an original watercolor portrait, combining elements of nature with the movement, composition, and proportions of the portraiture. By the end, you will know how to apply your art to different objects and mediums, ensuring the design is ready for anything from personalized t-shirts to mugs, notebooks, pillows, and more.
Description
First, Fefa briefly introduces herself, telling you about some of her favorite projects and her professional career. Also, she reveals her main artistic influences and references.
In the second unit, learn to make a selection of images that inspire you based on their color, shapes, symbols, and movement.
Next, Fefa explains how diagonal, orthogonal, wavy, and organic lines serve different functions to help create movement in your illustrations. Get some basic tips on creating the right proportions for your character's face.
Together with concepts of composition, discover color theory and bring your illustration to life. Explore different watercolor techniques that can be used for your final project.
Referencing what you have learned, begin working on your final sketch. Fefa shows you how to use tracing paper to add fine details to your piece, how to transfer the drawing to watercolor paper, and finally, how to start painting.
To finish the course, scan your illustration and prepare it for printing on different mediums like t-shirts, mugs, notebooks, and pillows.
