Do you love to experiment using traditional paint and your digital pencil? It's Alice Des' favorite way to create in her vast, compelling, and resolutely retro universe—working with curved lines and colorful stripes to create empowered female characters.

This illustrator, who likes to play around with all kinds of media, teaches you the essential drawing techniques using Photoshop. For the final project, create an illustration with both traditional and digital tools. By the end of this course, you'll have found your own unique tone and will even be able to create an animated GIF!

Description

Let your creativity run wild by exploring Photoshop’s tools to create a retro and colorful illustration that reflects your style

Start by discovering Alice's artistic universe and her journey through illustration. From Roger Broders to Henri Cartier-Bresson and the Atelier Bingo, her list of inspirational sources is endless.

She goes on to give you tips to help you find inspiration (in real life and on canvas) and identify the right tone. Look at the many different style options available when doing your illustration, before learning how to reinterpret the human body, which is a practice that is particularly dear to Alice's heart.

Next, take a look at composition and balance. Put these concepts into practice by making small thumbnail sketches before thinking about color. Then, work on creating textures, both on paper and on screen.

Once you've grasped all these essential elements, start working on your sketch and digitize it in Photoshop. Learn how to fine-tune your strokes, use colors, and create textures. Now your digital work is now ready to be exported!

Finally, Alice shows you how to make a GIF, isolating the element you want to animate, preparing the layers, and setting them in motion. All that's left to do is to share it online.
