Nostalgia as a catalyst when creating is a great engine and it is precisely that which moves Juan Manuel Urbina, director and founder of the Colombian animation studio Venturia Animation Studios. His style inspired by the golden age of animation, that which populated our televisions on Saturday mornings, is what characterizes his work and the one that will teach you to recreate in this course.
You will discover and analyze the different styles of cartoon between the 20s and 60s, then choose your favorite and design a series of characters based on their rules.
Description
You will start the course by learning about Venturia Animation Studios and how they got to what they are today. Juan will give you a brief tour of his professional career and his influences, so that you understand the origin of his fascination towards the golden age of animation, from the 20s to the 60s.
Then you will see a practical theoretical analysis to characterize those elements that make each era of animation so special and different from the others. You will analyze three eras of animation: the rubberhouse of the 20s, the Preston Blair animation of the 40s and the cubism cartoon of the 50s and 60s. You will focus mainly on the Character design online, that is: no color.
To finish the course with a flourish, you will see some guidelines and recommendations well known in the animation industry, so that you present your characters as a professional. You will also quickly learn to add color to the characters, according to the era to which they belong.
