Want to explore new creative possibilities using mixed media and techniques? Embark on a journey of experimentation and discovery with illustrator and teacher Leonor Pérez, whose editorial work has been widely recognized and won several awards. She is a three-time winner of IBBY Chile's Hummingbird Medal.
In this course, Leonor teaches you a versatile and expressive range of mixed techniques for visual narrative genres. See how any life experience or everyday element can serve as inspiration to activate your imagination. Work on a few illustrations from different sources and references to catalyze ideas and form creative pathways.
Description
Start the course hearing Leonor Pérez talk about her work and her journey as an illustrator. She also shares some of her pieces and sources of inspiration before inviting you to reflect on your own tastes.
Familiarize yourself with the materials for your own creative inventory. Then, learn how references are essential for fueling your creativity. Now it's time for a few drawing exercises to really immerse yourself in your imagination and observe your surroundings.
Leonor teaches you a range of experimental techniques including collage, the use of pareidolia, how to manipulate photographs, and printing with different objects and natural elements. Combine all these techniques for new and exciting results.
To bring the course to a close, establish relationships between the written word and the visual by making connections, interpretations, and playful combinations of both. Finally, make a folder for storing your creations and studied techniques so you always have them on hand.
