Isadora Zeferino

Voted as one of the 100 best International illustrators by TASCHEN, Isadora Zeferino has the ability to transmit unique emotions through her drawings that combine flowers, colors and characters. The botanical elements, far from playing a secondary role in her work, form an essential part of her artistic language that you can find on social media, books and work for clients such as: Faber-Castell, Wacom, Globosat, Melissa, and more.

In this course, she will teach you how to illustrate a portrait step by step, incorporating nature elements and with the use of digital techniques. To achieve this result, you will discover all the stages of her creative process: searching for references, illustration techniques, going from the creation of the first sketches onto the final project, as well as the many ways to apply them.

Description

Learn how to incorporate colors and nature's elements in your illustrations and create a stylized self-portrait

Isadora begins by presenting herself and explaining how she began her professional career as an illustrator. She will share the work of artists that inspire her and will reveal how she finds the incentive to keep improving her creativity. You will also get an overview of what you will be working on during the course.

In the second unit, you will learn how to prepare the base for your work, search for references, materials, explore the meaning of colors and create your palette. You will see how to draw flowers and leaves, from the most simple elements to the more complex ones. Isadora will talk about building a visual library and the importance of weight and hierarchy in a composition.

Before starting the practical exercises, you will see the difference between a self-portrait and a stylized one. Then, you will start working on your own piece, by drawing the first sketches of the face, chest and entire body. Once you have selected your final option, you will learn how to add flowers that can work as either a border or accessory in your portrait. Lastly, you’ll apply color, light, and shadows, and give the final touches to your composition using Adobe Photoshop’s tools.

Finally, Isadora will show you how to save your file in different sizes and formats so that you image is adapted to different social media platforms. You will see how to apply your illustrations to different formats, for a banner or presentation letter, and how to merge it into your brand identity.

By the end of this course, you will have learnt to compose unique portraits, using botanical and floral illustrations, along with all the different ways to apply them.
