Telling witty stories in cartoon format is an art form that illustrator and comic artist Alejandra Lunik has mastered down to a T. With a career spanning more than two decades and work featured in books, magazines, newspapers, and online media, she has become a well-known figure in the world of graphic humor, a field that gives her the ability to laugh at life's oddities and annoyances through illustration.

In this course, Alejandra teaches you how to transform your ideas and experiences into amusing anecdotes and relay them as a comic. Learn about different types of humor, as well as the formats and techniques you can use to turn your stories into comical illustrations.

Description

Learn the process for creating a single-panel comic

Meet your teacher for the course, Alejandra Lunik. She tells you about her work, her influences, and other graphic humorists that inspire her to keep creating.

Learn about different types of humor and get some tips on where to find ideas for your comics, as well as how to put them down on paper.

Next, Alejandra shows you the most common formats for comics and shares her secrets to composition and character creation to help you build better stories.

Look at the tools and materials your teacher uses to bring her comics to life, then grab your own and get sketching. Scan it into Photoshop to do some retouching before moving on to the inking phase.

Now go back over your work in ink, add dialogue and color, and put the finishing touches on your drawing. As a last step, digitize your final art to share with the world.
