Description

Learn fundamental watercolor techniques to bring fantastical worlds to life

Start the course by getting to know Karla Rodríguez, better known as Miss Étoile or Dolle Étoile. She tells you a little more about herself, her background and her work, and shows you some of the artists who inspire her and who have influenced her particular style.

Get acquainted with the watercolor technique and the variations that exist, then explore the concepts of fugitive colors, lightfastness, and pigments. Go over the materials needed for the final project and learn about what you should look for when getting your watercolors.

Next, start working on your fairy-tale illustration with watercolor. Make a simple sketch bearing in mind the composition, colors, and color values. Trace it onto watercolor paper, then look at how to add vibrancy with the watercolors and work in some finer details.

Digitize your final artwork and edit it with the software of your choice. What else can you do with your illustrations? Karla wraps things up by giving you some great tips on different options and uses for your piece once you have your work as a digital file.
