Through digital software, you can create the illusion of handmade artwork without the need for traditional tools. Fine artist and illustrator Daniel Ibanez has been drawing since before he could walk, and sold his first painting at just 16 years old. Since then, his work has been showcased at national shows and events, from Comic-Cons to gallery openings.
In this course, he teaches you to create ‘tradigital’ paintings using a combination of traditional and digital painting concepts. Learn how to create expressive digital paintings that appear to be made by hand in Photoshop. Expand your creativity and let painting become a way to connect more deeply with the world around you.
Description
Begin the course by getting to know fine artist and illustrator Daniel Ibanez. Discover the creative journey that led him to a successful career as a painter, along with the influences that inspire the work he makes.
Daniel guides you through how to set up both your physical and digital workspace to cultivate creativity. Then dive in to a series of warm-up exercises in preparation for your painting, exploring different brush strokes, layers, shapes, and more, before finding a reference photo for your work.
Time to start painting in Photoshop. Start with simple lines and large shapes. Then bring your painting to life with light and shade. Hear Daniel’s tips for rendering the eyes, nose, and mouth of your portrait, before refining the details of the face and adding your own aesthetic to your work.
Experiment with color, mark-making, exaggeration, and more to finish your artwork. Then learn how to export your final painting and share it on social media using Daniels’ advice. To finish the course, see how to use the techniques you’ve learned to create other types of paintings.
