What do Gothic stained glass and pop art have in common? Easy: vibrant colors and geometric shapes. By combining these two features in a kaleidoscopic style, you can create dazzling digital illustrations. Join Marco and Stefano, founders of Van Orton studio, and learn how to make geometric pop art based on a reference image of your choice.
The creative duo, specialized in digital illustration and design, have collaborated with brands like Marvel, Mercedes-Benz, and Colmar. In this course, Marco and Stefano teach you how to pick the perfect image, sketch a design, and bring it to life with colors, textures, and patterns using Photoshop and Illustrator. Draw inspiration from the rad aesthetic of the '80s and compose your own colorful illustration.
Description
Begin by getting to know Marco and Stefano, founders of the Van Orton project and your teachers for the course. They tell you about their passion for illustration and how they transformed it into a professional career. Discover their love for the '80s and see the influences that have shaped their style.
Next, start laying the groundwork for your digital illustration. Find inspiration for your piece by compiling reference images and learn how to work with Photoshop and Illustrator.
Combine two photos to make the perfect hybrid, sketch an outline of your design, and add an illustrated background.
Decide on the most fitting color scheme for your project and apply it to your illustration in Photoshop. Then customize it by adding textures and patterns that make it pop.
Once you've finished your composition, Marco and Stefano teach you how to apply it to a range of materials, like packaging for an action figure or a sticker.
