Throughout history we see great artists who have developed a well-known personal identity, we can talk about the alter ego of artists like Marcel Duchamp or David Bowie, and also of urban artists like Banksy or Invader; They all developed a unique visual universe that speaks for itself. Alejandro Giraldo is an illustrator who has worked for major brands and advertising agencies. His passion for the sea led him to create the Velmost clothing brand, where it reflects part of his identity and personality.

In this course you will learn to develop an illustrated personal identity, you will know yourself by identifying your references and influences to find an alter ego that represents you and create a universe around it, embodied in a pack of graphic pieces such as t-shirts, stickers and badges.

Description

Design a universe which represents you and apply it to different objects

You will start by knowing Alejandro Giraldo who will tell you how since he has reason he took a pencil to start drawing everything around him. You will see his career since he entered the university to study graphic design and then work in a fashion company, take a master's degree abroad, and return to Colombia to work as an illustrator freelance and found his own brand of clothes.

You will see what a personal identity is and how it can become a brand. Next, you will make a personal mood board , based on your references and influences, and from this you will look for a name and an alter ego with which you identify.

Then we will begin to explore your alter ego in a graphic way, you will make the first sketches of this character with pencil and paper, then choose one and create a universe around it, using elements that represent it.

You will learn to digitize the chosen character and elements, creating textures in Adobe Photoshop. Then you will vectorize and create patterns in Adobe Illustrator.

You will prepare the final arts for the different forms of production, such as screen printing for t-shirts, stickers , badges, totebags and, also, you will see how to do wheatpasting in large format with your character.

At the end of the course you will have a unique personal identity with which you can express all your artistic power in the formats you want.
