According to Rafael Yockteng, children's book illustrator, building stories is not just about what one can write or draw, but about what the reader interprets. Discover how to play with images and tell stories that aren’t told with words.
In this course, learn Rafael's methodology for making a picturebook and develop, from start to finish, the storyboard of your story. Discover the tools needed to express yourself through your own unique visual language and perspective.
Description
Start the course by getting to know Rafael Yockteng, who has developed a wide range of picturebooks in collaboration with different writers and publishers. Rafael tells you about his journey as an illustrator and his influences before briefly explaining the layout of the course.
Next, see some of his projects and see the different ways he interpreted each story. Together, create a first drawing that will help you make decisions throughout the development of your story.
What is a storyboard and how is it made? Answering this question is the central theme of this unit. To do so, see some examples and start sketching. Accompany Rafael as he shows you his creative process and discover how he creates a visual narrative.
Next, finish an image of your project which summarizes and captures the central idea of the book. Give your image some final touches like texture and add the text to each page before assembling the PDF ready and getting it ready to present.
