Translating the beauty and diversity of the botanical world into watercolors is the great challenge of the Brazilian artist Isabela Quintes who, in a self-taught way, managed to transform her illustration hobby into a profession and today successfully sells her works on her online store, in addition to collaborating with different brands.

In this course, learn basic watercolor techniques to create your own botanical illustration. Isabela teaches, step by step, how to create a pattern from a composition to apply it to any object, before producing and selling it.

Description

Learn how to create patterns out of your watercolor illustrations and apply them to any object

Start the course getting to know Isabela's artistic career, how she started painting with Domestika courses and turned her hobby into a job. She shows you her main influences and explains everything you will see throughout the course.

In the second unit, review all the materials you will use to create your botanical painting. Then, create an inspiring mood board to help you in your creative process and choose your color palette. Learn different watercolor painting techniques and do a series of exercises to loosen your hand and gain confidence.

See the basic structure of the pattern and get to work creating your composition. Start by drawing the botanical elements and then transfer your drawing to the watercolor paper.

The time has come to put into practice the watercolor techniques you learned in the previous units by painting your composition. Isabela shows you how to paint different species of plants that require different techniques such as Alocasia, Banana Leaf, and Monstera Deliciosa.

In the last step, digitize your painting, create your pattern, and do the editing on Adobe Photoshop. Isabela shows you different products on which you can print your work and market it. Finally, she teaches you how to prepare your files for printing.
