Artistic illustration is a powerful tool that allows you to explore your inner world and express it to the world through images. Peruvian painter, illustrator, and visual artist, Fito Espinosa, delves into his thoughts and emotions to translate them to accessible symbolic images, aimed at understanding ourselves and the world we live in.

In this course, Fito Espinosa teaches how to illustrate by connecting with your emotions and personal ideas. He explains step-by-step how to start from an idea or intuition to achieve a more poetic creation, creating sketches and developing images that express your imagination and unique point of view.

Description

Connect with your emotions and learn to depict them in symbolical and personal pictures

Discover how Fito Espinosa began his artistic journey as a painter, illustrator, and visual artist. He shares some of the artists that have been relevant in particular moments of his career and clarifies the stylistic differences between painting and illustration.

Start off by understanding how to connect with your inner self to find inspiration, taking notes and sketching the ideas that are most relevant to you. Learn a method to create poetically using text. Then, see how to start developing your artistic illustration with the text, with the intention of moving your audience.

Once your idea is clear, start drawing it on cardboard. Follow the steps and define the details using a pencil, from the space to the elements. Learn the techniques to illustrate voluminous or flat concepts. Then, define the contours and details of each element, understanding the object’s perspective.

Move on to painting your image, after Fito’s brief introduction on warm, cold, and neutral colors, and see how to organize them to transmit emotion through your illustrations. Understand the importance of achieving your own style and a visual coherence to effectively communicate your ideas and interpretation of the world.

Lastly, work on your story through your images. Imagine how the character got there, what their life might be like, what they want, and what they struggle with. This will help you create new content, that can be related or not to your first image.
