Capturing a brand's personality is a key part of designing its visual identity, but the ability to bring your vision and style to each project is what sets you apart from the rest in the eyes of the client. Graphic designer and 2D/3D animation specialist Martin Ferdkin, who has worked for major TV channels like Fox and Discovery, teaches you how to find the perfect balance between the two in your work.
In this course, learn how to professionally approach a branding project involving a set of three animated pieces. Discover techniques to help you capture and convey a brand's essence through visual language and consistently deliver high-quality creative proposals.
Description
Start the course by getting to know your teacher Martin, who tells you about how he got started in the world of design and what motivates him as a professional designer. He also talks about where he draws inspiration from when defining the concept for a visual branding project.
In the next unit, take an in-depth look at your project. First, analyze the brand's defining characteristics as compared to the competition. Then, break down your project into tasks and set a deadline for each one. Finally, create a mood board and draw a mind map to highlight key ideas and develop concepts.
Once you've outlined your project, focus on the specific needs of the individual pieces and search for stocks photos and videos for each. Create vector illustrations that embody the brand's defining characteristics and then transform them into 3D models experimenting with different materials, textures, and lighting techniques.
Now it's time to bring your project to life using 2D and 3D animation. Learn how to prepare your files and add music and sounds effects. And to give your project a more professional look, Martin shows you how to work with video tracking, stabilization, and animation curves in Cinema 4D and After Effects.
