Architecture On Paper

An architectural rendering is more than just an image, it's also a story about a space and the people in it. Join Brenda Roqueta and Alba Estevez, the founders of the Architecture on Paper studio, and learn how to use rendering and digital collage techniques to re-create a 3D architecture project.

In this course, dive into the universe of architectural visualization. Use 3ds Max and Photoshop to develop your own style and create unique images full of personality that demonstrate your tasteful understanding of architecture.

Description

Learn how to create illustrations of architectural spaces from scratch with 3ds Max and Photoshop

Start the course by meeting your teachers Brenda Roqueta and Alba Estevez. They talk about their professional background and explain how their passion for architectural visualization led them to create their own studio, Architecture on Paper. They also share their favorite projects–some abstract, others more realistic–and show you the influences that have defined their style.

Next, they introduce you to the universe of architectural rendering and teach you key concepts for creating images that tell a story. Create a mood board to help you visualize your ideas and learn about the importance a of good color scheme.

In the next unit, start designing with 3ds Max. Learn how to import a 3D model step by step. Enhance the model by adding volume for a more realistic look and include some personal style to make it your own. Next, work on the image composition, add objects, and position the camera at the right angle to get the perfect frame.

With your model ready and the camera set, it's time to bring your project to life. First, learn basic lighting techniques. Then, create materials using textures to add color, shine, and depth to all the objects in your model. Lastly, set your parameters for the final render.

To finish your project, switch to photoshop and let your creativity lead the way in the post-production phase. Construct a narrative using images to explain how the space is going to be used and who it's designed for. Experiment with human scale and proportions, adjust filters, and play with textures. Brenda and Alba help you tie it all together with some tips on how to add a background and create a specific setting to avoid a hyper-realistic render and produce a more idyllic, abstract image.
