EN·CONCRETO

From small-scale decorative pieces to furniture for public spaces, the versatility of concrete goes far beyond that of a basic material for construction sites. Carolina and Eduardo, partners and founders of En Concreto, are fully aware of its potential and take advantage of this renewable raw material to create environmentally-friendly and functional art using sustainable processes.

After teaching the basics in Concrete Furniture Creation for Beginners, in this course, your instructors take creativity to the next level and show you how to craft unique concrete designs with built-in environmental awareness. Learn how to create medium-sized concrete furniture with organic shapes using recyclable materials. Experiment with different shapes, functions, textures, and colors beyond the gray scale and see how to put a terrazzo finish on your work.

Description

Learn to build concrete furniture with recycled materials to get a terrazzo finish

Start the course by meeting Carolina and Eduardo, the founders of En Concreto. They tell you about what they've learned throughout five years of working with this material and where they plan to go with it. They also share some of the artists, architects, businesses, and initiatives that motivate them to continue creating.

Dive straight in and see the materials for your project one by one and discover where you can find them. Learn about the importance of a mold and how to make one that allows you to build any piece you can imagine.

Create a mix by calculating the volume of your table and prepare the recycled aggregate that will give it a spectacular terrazzo finish. Explore the wonders of color and experiment with powdered pigments to modify color intensity for your creations.

After you've poured your mixture and taken it out of the mold, it's time to put finishing touches on your table. Learn how to use a grinder to polish your work and attach the legs to the table top. Finally, see how to care for your piece and keep it in perfect condition for years to come.
