3D printing has become the most practical and realistic way of bringing product design and architecture projects to life when seeking high accuracy and quality standards. For a digital architecture plan, it allows for more control and precision, increasing the overall quality of your architectural work.

In this course, learn how to build models and recreate tridimensional spaces using 3D printing with Agustín Arroyo. Go through each step of the process, from the idea to the final product. Learn how to design for 3D printing and see different ways to post-process the designs you create.

This is Agustín Arroyo’s second course on Domestika. In his first course, Introduction to 3D Design and Printing, he shows how to get started with 3D printing, its benefits, and how to get the most out of it.

Description

Learn how to transform your designs into physical objects with 3D printing

Start by getting to know Agustín “Flowalistik” Arroyo, a designer and educator specialized in 3D printing and digital manufacturing. He explains his journey from designer to passionate about 3D printing and how he considers the entire creative process in his work, from the idea to the final product. He also shows you some of his references in the industry.

Learn all about 3D printing and how the printing process works when using plastic filament. He shows different types of 3D modeling software and the basic tools you need to design and 3D print your own models.

Get started designing your model. First, work on the model structure, which will determine how to build the rest of your project. Then design the smaller components and other details. Once you’ve finished designing your model, you’ll learn how to prepare the files for printing.

Discover some of the basic materials you can use, along with their aesthetic and mechanical properties. Then, learn how to post-process each part of your project using manual techniques to achieve unique finishes.

Once you’ve learned to design and create your own 3D model, Agustín talks you through designing your final architecture model to put your new skills into practice.
