Being able to show a product in all its splendor is key so that the public is attracted to buy it, be it a plate of food or a piece of clothing. With just a few basic techniques and elements you can take effective and attractive product photography, and in this course you will learn how to do it.

Martí Sans, a photographer specializing in still life , will teach you the basics of product photography such as camera and light settings, set up and post-production in Adobe Photoshop.

Learn basics concepts to take still life pictures from scratch

You will start by knowing Martí, his professional career and some of his references in the world of still life photography.

You will take a tour of the different types of camera you can use and refresh some basic camera control concepts, such as the aperture, shutter speed and ISO.

Martí will explain to you in a basic way how the color temperature works in the photographs and how to adjust the white balance in your camera. In addition, you will know the advantages of shooting in RAW format.

To manipulate and sift the light, you will learn how to create a homemade diffuser using pen cardboard, vegetable paper and some adhesive tape. This way you can get softer shadows in your photos.

You will discover the basic principles for working with natural light in your photographs and you will take a still life photo using this type of light on a table with a mobile phone. Next, you will post-produce the photo in Lightroom mobile .

You will learn to work with conventional desk lamps, taking into account the types of light bulbs and other aspects. Using the lamp you will create two still lifes: one of a few business cards and the other with moving elements. Once again, you will post-produce both photos.

The next lighting tool that you will know will be the hand flash, with which you will make a new still life photograph, and then edit it in the postproduction process.

Finally, you will focus completely on the studio flash. Martí will give you a basic introduction to its operation and then you will take a still life photo using it. You will finish the course with the postproduction of your last still life photo.
