According to Sara and Tom, founder of Fotosintesis Green Art, building terrariums is an art form that's accessible to everyone because it doesn't require extravagant materials, just your active imagination and a curious mind to explore a whole world of possibilities. In this course, learn a new technique to connect with plants while creating art and expressing your love of nature.
Discover how to build an open glass terrarium using tools you can find in your own home, including how to prepare the ideal substrate for your environment, distribute layers, and experiment with decorative arrangements. By the end, you'll have all the essential knowledge and resources to design a successful plant ecosystem.
Description
Start the course by getting to know who Tom and Sara are and what motivated them to found Fotosintesis Green Art. Take a look at some of their work and see everything that inspires them to create. Then, find out why the final project is the perfect way to solidify everything you learn.
Discover what a terrarium is, what it's for, and the different types that exist. Move on to the specifics and see what they're made up of, from cacti and succulents to soil and minerals and other purely decorative items such as ceramics and sand.
Next, Sara walks you through how to create an ecosystem where diverse plant species can survive for long periods of time with little to no human intervention. Prepare a healthy mixture of soil and minerals to make the substrate, distribute layers, and play around with arrangement options for your tiny landscape.
To bring everything together, your teachers give you some tips on how to care for and extend the life of your plant art for as long as possible. They show you how to properly water and clean your terrarium and explain why light and temperature are key to making your ecosystem thrive.
