To achieve greater artistic expressiveness through strings and fabrics, it is essential to explore and play with the composition, and with its results. The well-known textile artist Belen Senra —who has already exhibited her work in New York, Miami, Madrid or Los Angeles— reveals that you don't have to settle for basic shapes, but you also have to experiment with different supports and techniques.
In addition to being an opportunity to disconnect from daily stress, in this course you will be able to reconnect with an old art that will provide you with a wide repertoire of techniques and the compilation of a large library of references for infinite projects and applications: tapestries, accessories, fashion, architecture or product.
If you want to deepen the art of macramé, you can expand your knowledge with other courses by Belén Senra: Introduction to macramé: creation of a decorative tapestry and Design of macramé accessories .
Description
You'll start by learning about Belén's professional career as a textile artist, her main projects, and her biggest influences: inspirational books, websites, blogs, and social media profiles.
In the second unit, you will see the basic materials and tools to start working, although you will be able to use those with which you feel most comfortable. Belén will explain the characteristics of the different types of knots and how to work each one.
In addition to preparing your work material, you should prepare your mind by doing some posture and breathing exercises to achieve balance and a deeper connection with manual work.
In the third unit, you will get to work and learn to make a repertoire of knots with different strings. You will explore the infinite possibilities of each knot using straight, curved, diagonal or circular shapes, among others. You will create a sample of fabrics, which you can also try with ropes of different materials and colors.
Next, you will practice knotted laces and experiment with different options and different types of rope. Then, you will learn how to make decorative knots, they can serve to give life to your accessories and a distinctive touch.
In the last unit, you will explore the application of knots in different areas such as fashion, furniture, decoration or jewelry. Finally, you will combine the techniques learned during the course to create your own textile piece, a hanging on the wall.
