Learning a traditional technique until it is mastered, and then generating original and contemporary pieces, is what multidisciplinary artist Angela Cayero does in her Poetryarn project. A brand, whose mission is to take bold designs of pattern to pieces woven with care through the technique of tapestry . Ángela brings vibrant colors and bold patterns to the traditional tapestry stitches, generating a unique style that combines fabric and poetry.

In this course, Ángela will teach you everything related to the technique of tapestry , from embroidery points and fabric directions, to the design of patterns and their correct reading. You will learn everything you need from this technique so that you can translate your creativity into original pieces, such as a reversible backpack.

Description

Learn basic crochet stitches, design modern patterns and create unique pieces

You will meet Poetryarn, or rather, the creator behind the project, Ángela Cayero. You will discover what has moved her there, some curiosities about her, and her artistic influences.

To start, you will review the materials you will need both for knitting tapestry and for designing your patterns and Ángela will give you some general tips To face the following lessons.

In tapestry there are only four basic points. You will learn to make the basic crochet stitch, the chain; the second basic point necessary to perfect the fabric in tapestry , the satin point; and the crucial ones, the low point and Angela's favorite: the high point.

You will see the basic directions and put them into practice, so that you know what results they will bring to your work. You'll learn the ones you're probably going to use the most: the round trip and the tube. Then you will see how to apply these techniques to knit in two colors.

You will go one step further, identify and start designing patterns (or patterns) even and odd. Ángela will teach you her method and will give you resources to guide you both in her reading and in her design.

Finally, you will take the patterns of the paper to the tapestry to create the final fabric and create your own piece: a reversible backpack. You will start by weaving the main parts of the piece from the chains to the full turns and then make the base structure. Then, you will make the clips, sew the reversible zipper and put on your backpack some adjustable handles.

With these techniques you will be able to face any project of tapestry that you propose.
