Unlike 2D garment modeling, moulage allows you to design in three dimensions, working with the fabric directly on the mannequin; a simple method that yields excellent results. Designer Isabel Sánchez, who has collaborated with big names in Spanish fashion like Devota & Lomba, Jesús del Pozo, and Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, is an expert in this technique and lets you in on her step-by-step process.

In this course, learn to make a garment with the easy and efficient moulage techniques on a mannequin. Isabel teaches you how to position reference points on your mannequin and how to build the different elements, from the first markings on the sample fabric and the seams, to the ruching and final details that round off your blouse.

Description

Learn to shape clothes directly on a mannequin and turn them into patterns for future replicas

Start by hearing all about Isabel Sánchez's experience within the fashion industry. She talks about her collaborations with a range of designers and her teaching work at various education centers and universities. She also tells you a little about how different designers have influenced her and why.

Discover what moulage consists of and what materials you need to create your blouse. Isabel teaches you about different mannequin classifications and how to mark the reference points essential to any design.

Now it's time to get acquainted with your mannequin! Piece together the front, back, and sleeves using a sample fabric and then learn to transfer it all to paper. Next, prepare the definitive fabric and see how to reproduce your design.

Finish up by making your garment! Work on the side seams and the drawstrings for creating the ruche effect at the neck and on the sleeves. Isabel also shows you how to add the finishing touches to the neckline and hem, as well as any final details.
