Many stories refuse to be held captive by their pages, but when it comes to Silvia Hijano's editorial projects, they literally jump right out at you! As founder of the Libracos studio, her speciality is creating paper worlds using a combination of three-dimensional techniques and traditional binding.
In this course, Silvia breaks down the creative process of her craft step by step, showing you how to compose an interactive pop-up book that springs to life with the help of the reader. If you're left wanting more, be sure to check out her other courses: Pop-Up Book CreationPop-Up Book Creation[/url] and Advanced Techniques for Creating Pop-Up Books.
Description
Start by discovering who Silvia Hijano is and why she decided to dedicate herself to the creative world of books. She shows you some of her biggest influences and follows with a brief overview of what’s covered in the course.
Next, complete a series of exercises designed to familiarize you with some basic techniques for creating eye-catching transformational, visual, and structural effects with paper. Learn to enhance your publications or to create stand-alone pieces.
Once you're familiar with the materials and basic techniques, design your own project: an original botanical world. First, let nature's characteristic shapes inspire you. Then transform your ideas into pages adorned with pull-out tabs, openings, and 3D structures.
In the last unit, learn how to use double-sided tape to expertly assemble all the pages so that the mechanisms work and your book is held together properly. Add the finishing touch to your botanical world with a traditional Dutch hardcover binding.
