Elena Odriozola -Illustrator and National Illustration Prize 2015- will teach you to illustrate the scenes of a book step by step.

From a real commission, a paper theater that Elena performed for the Mary Shelley classic "Frankenstein or the modern Prometheus" published by the Nordic Books, you will learn to interpret a text and give it a different point of view by means of the illustration of his characters and scenarios.

Once you have designed all the elements of the theater, you will build it physically and then photograph it and finish illustrating any book, story, cover or assignment related to reading.

Description

Illustrate and create a paper theatre using a scene from a book

You will begin to know better the illustrations and the influences of Elena Odriozola.

Then you will go into the preproduction phase of the course, which consists of reading the book and reflecting on the character and the setting to then make the first sketches.

At this point, Elena will also talk about the necessary materials and technical characteristics that you will need when scanning and printing your designs.

Then, from the initial ideas, you will create the character and the scene of your theater with more detail (structure, facade, decoration) and you will learn to paint it with acrylic paint, give shape and rigidity to the figures.

Finally, you will photograph your creations and discover the infinite possibilities of your scenario, taking into account Elena's experience with Frankenstein's illustrations.
