Transforming everyday objects into unique pieces is what artist Nuria Blanco does best, creating hand-painted works of art on plates and dishes. The renowned Spanish designer has taken part in international exhibitions and fairs, and has been featured in editorials like Vogue, AD, and El País.
Learn how to create unique hand-painted ceramic pieces. Nuria teaches illustration techniques for creating an original drawing that can be transferred to a piece for a fun, creative touch. By the end of this course, you’ll be able to compose a pictorial image on ceramic objects, perfect for adorning your dining room table or hanging on your wall as a decorative object.
Description
Start the course by getting to know Nuria, hear about her career as an artist, and learn about how she fell in love with ceramics. Discover her artistic references and see what you’re about to learn in the course.
In the second unit, go through all the materials needed to create your project and see how Nuria finds inspiration. Learn new drawing techniques and create a series of sketches before selecting one to apply to a ceramic object. See how to add color to your work using Nuria’s methodology for defining a unique color palette.
Learn to transfer the drawing onto your ceramic piece and begin painting the compositions on the five plates. Apply some color and see how to finalize the details so your piece can be prepped for enameling. Finally, Nuria shows you how to fix any mistakes in your work using enamel.
In the final unit, discover how to use a kiln and learn about how you can apply the techniques you’ve learned, including application to different pieces and using other formats.
