On this two-week introductory course from King’s College London, you’ll learn the basics of the Portuguese language, allowing you to strike up simple conversations in a social environment.
Explore Portuguese grammar and how to talk about yourselfTo lay the foundation of the Portuguese language, you’ll start by engaging in basic conversations to introduce yourself and ask for basic information. You’ll cover how to pronounce Portuguese letters and combinations of letters as well as how to identify Portuguese grammar.
As the language is spoken across multiple continents, it has developed cultural characteristics and deviations between countries. You’ll delve into the basic differences between European Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese, from addressing people formally to cultural colloquialisms.
Demonstrate your new skills to speak, read, listen, and write in PortugueseEach stage of this course will allow you to use your new skills practically by producing short written and oral texts about yourself. You’ll also collect information from simple texts and audio documents to showcase the reading and listening aspects of your learning.
