Why stay with a single artistic discipline when you can combine them and generate a living composition, created with mixed techniques? Jo Jiménez is a visual artist whose style is characterized by mixing materials on different supports. He makes illustrations with watercolor and acrylic, and embroiders floral motifs, blurring the boundaries between both disciplines.

In this course you will learn basic techniques of acrylic painting and embroidery and then bring that knowledge to your own composition. Jo will teach you how to mix both techniques to bring your illustration to life in a frame made by you from a paint frame.

Description

Learn to draw and embroider evocative illustrations on XL frames

You will start by knowing Jo, you will see how he became an artist dedicating himself to work exclusively on creative projects and will show you his artistic influences, which are the most varied.

Jo will introduce you to the materials he usually works with and their characteristics. It will start with the materials for your illustrations, acrylic and paint pens. In addition, it will show you which brushes are appropriate for painting on canvas.

Then he will show you the materials he likes most for embroidery, threads and wool. You will learn their favorite embroidery stitches and how to use them to make according to what details.

Before you start painting, you will make an introduction to basic concepts about composition, which will serve you for all your creations.

Now, Jo will guide you through the process to start a floral illustration. You will start imitating the growth and direction of some flowers from the center outwards.

Once you have the illustration, you will see how to add the details from yarn and wool. The embroidery will be in charge of highlighting and giving volume to certain elements that you consider.

Finally you will eliminate the residues of thread and paint that may have been stuck on the frame and will end the work. Et voilà! Ready to hang be hung on your wall.
