The countless combinations of distinctive features and natural colors make plants and flowers a bountiful source of inspiration for embroidery, and if you complement them with other elements, like anatomy, the possibilities are endless. With a bit of colored thread and some basic stitches, you can transform a simple piece of clothing into a one-of-a-kind fashion statement.

Alessandra Noli, cofounder of the brand Flò-ra, teaches you how to embroider unique designs inspired by nature and anatomy on T-shirts and wearable accessories. Search for inspiration, learn the basic stitches, and bring your idea to life with needle and thread. Let your creativity bloom and turn a plain, white T-shirt into a flowering work of art.

Description

Learn to design unique, colorful patterns and embroider them on T-shirts and sustainable fabrics with needle and thread

Begin by getting to know Alessandra Noli, embroidery artist, cofounder of the brand Flò-ra, and your teacher for this course. Hear about her life, her creative journey, and the influences that inspire her work.

Look over the materials you need for your final project and search for images to put together an inspiring mood board. Decide on a theme for your design and find the right fabric to make it blossom.

Next, Alessandra teaches you all the essential stitches to create your composition. Once you've finalized your design, transfer it to your fabric and start embroidering. Stitch the simple lines of the anatomical half first, continue with the leaves and bright flowers, and finish with the decorative details.

Go back over your work to make sure everything is proportional, and then iron the shirt inside out to remove any creases left by the hoop. Repeat the process on the front but iron around the embroidery to avoid damaging it.

To wrap up the course, Alessandra shows you some alternative fabrics and the qualities that make them ideal for embroidery, as well as how to apply your designs to a variety of fabric accessories.
