Recreate nature’s movements and sensations with threads and fabrics with Peruvian textile artist Mariana Baertl, founder of the Living Fibers brand, and natural landscapes into unique embroideries, experimenting with different textures and reliefs.
In this course, you’ll learn different embroidery stitches to create tapestry with a textured fit for interior decor. Furthermore, the versatility of these techniques and materials will allow you to go beyond and create other pieces in an innovative way, in the form of cushions, bags, and clothing. Description
In the first unit, you’ll get an in-depth look into Mariana’s career path, the art world, interior decoration, and fashion, and, you’ll get to know some of her sources of inspiration. Then, you’ll get acquainted with the material by looking at some of the pieces where she used the stitches you’ll learn in this course.
Next, you’ll begin to organize all the materials, exploring the different tools that exist in the world of embroidery. Mariana will share some references with you as a way to inspire you to create your first embroidered sketch. She will teach you how to create a pattern and print it on fabric. Then, you’ll learn how to prepare a frame and finally, start embroidering.
In the third unit, you’ll focus on learning different stitching techniques, how to use strings and threads, and how to put pieces of wrapped cord together for your composition. Lastly, you’ll learn a nod technique to create beautiful textures on any fabric.
In the final phase of this course, you’ll start the final touches to finish your piece and learn how to hang it perfectly. Mariana will show you the variations of all the stitches and nods that you’ve learned to inspire you and apply them to other projects such as clothing, pillows, bags, and more.
