Want to learn how to design eye-catching letters? Is nature your main source of inspiration? Graphic designer and art director Adrià Molins, who unites two of his biggest passions by digitally replicating natural patterns in his typefaces and lettering, teaches you to transmit compelling messages with the power to stir the soul.

In this course, explore how to create nature-inspired lettering with digital tools. Get a brief introduction to natural patterns and how they relate to art, then discover how to use three effects that Adrià has developed throughout his career and add your own personal touch.

Description

Learn to design powerful typefaces by replicating the geometric shapes found in nature using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator

Kick things off by getting to know Adrià Molins. He explains why he decided to work in design, his professional background, and where he is currently based. He also talks about some of his influences and the artistic references that have had the biggest impact on his day-to-day work.

Next, get acquainted with some of the organic patterns that can be found in nature and look at some examples for a little inspiration. Go through a brief introduction to the basics of typefaces and lettering, then create a mood board for your final project.

Adrià shows you the Coral effect, one of his own that he has developed throughout his career. Get to know the ins-and-outs of the effect, the steps necessary to create it, and how to implement it correctly in your letters, first with Adobe Photoshop and then with Illustrator.

The next effect is called Voronoi. Learn how to create this effect step by step, mastering how it works in order to showcase it in your typographic base. Look at how to add volume, depth, and some final nuances to your design.

Now your teacher walks you through the final effect, Flow Fields, which requires a few more steps than the previous two, but opens up a whole new world of creative and expressive processes. Now you've got all the know-how to create extraordinary lettering using traditional design software!
