Knitting your own clothes means you can customize them to your figure as well as your tastes. According to textile designer and knitting professor Carmen García de Mora, you only need to know a few stitches and the basics for taking measurements to explore the infinite possibilities of knitwear creation.
After guiding you through Introduction to Knitting with Circular Needles, Carmen accompanies you a step further. In this course, learn to measure, design, and knit a classic seamless Nordic-style sweater.
Description
To start off, Carmen García de Mora tells you a little bit about herself, her knitting background, and her sources of inspiration for the course, from books to tradition and handcrafts.
Continue by taking a proper look at what the final project entails so you know where you are each step of the way. Learn to take measurements of your own body and select your yarns, needles, and other tools.
Next, Carmen teaches you to knit circular swatches to calculate the gauge of the yoke. Move on to calculate the first section, followed by the body and sleeves, before learning to add textures within each section and from a drawing.
Once your pattern is decided, including all the measurements and calculations, it's time to immerse yourself in needles and yarns. Start with the neckline and yoke, then on to the body and sleeves, and finish up by adding the final details.
To tie everything together, Carmen shows you how to block your knitwear using the appropriate materials and technique. She also gives you some aftercare tips to keep your garment looking new for longer.
