Nature has always been one of the biggest sources of inspiration among artists and across creative professions, it's something we consistently try to embody wherever we go. Now imagine being able to infinitely replicate its many wonders!
In this course, Verona-born designer and artisan Giulia Tosi, founder of the brand Insunsit, teaches you to create a botanical pattern using a sketch as a reference. With her as your guide, learn to get inspired by nature, then draw and digitize your illustrations in order to replicate them a thousand times over in Photoshop.
Description
Start by getting to know your teacher Giulia Tosi. She talks about her main influences and introduces you to her world and the root of her creations.
Now it's time to get straight to work! Explore all the tools you need for your final project and analyze the concept of a pattern to gain a better understanding of how it works and how it can be replicated as many times as you need. Create a mood board with a series of images to get your creative juices flowing before defining the ideal color palette for your piece.
Then shift all your focus to your illustration. After deciding on a concept, do some initial sketching, adding the final details and transferring it to paper with the help of your light box. The next step is applying color in both solid and opaque tones.
Once your design is complete, Giulia shows you how to digitize it and upload it to Photoshop where you learn how to tweak the colors and replicate it to achieve the desired pattern. Finally, prepare your file for printing and familiarize yourself with the different formats for applying your motif to a range of products.
