The work of a colorist is one of the most magical in the production process of an audiovisual project; in their hands lies the possibility of harnessing the expressive possibilities of color to generate sensations within the viewer. Sonia Abellan—colorist at the El Colorado studio—has worked in films, series, short films, video clips, and programs such as Villaviciosa de al lado, Morir, Piscina, Z FEST, Wild Frank, and Pulsations. She teaches you how to retouch color using DaVinci Resolve for your videos and shows you all the options that this software has to offer.

In this course, learn how to work on the correction of audiovisual color, achieving continuity in sequences shot with different cameras, light conditions, etc. Learn how to make it seem like different shots have been filmed in one place without the viewer noticing. And, above all, discover the world of possibilities that color can offer when it comes to transmitting emotions.

Description

Learn how to use color correction as a way to direct emotions in an audiovisual project

Start by getting to know Sonia Abellán’s main sources of inspiration, the artists, and the work that she admires most, as well as other references that influence her work. Sonia also introduces concepts in the psychology of color, showing the great importance it holds in cinema.

Next, get started with the DaVinci Resolve interface and discover all of its functions. Start by importing all the files you need to work on and discover the editing tools available. Then, see the different possibilities that DaVinci Resolve offers when working with color and go through the Deliver interface, which allows you to export your sequences correctly.

Once you are familiar with the software, learn how to work on the color of a short film. See how to successfully correct and unify the color of two completely different sequences, using both an interior and exterior sequence. Before delving into coloring, see how to import your files and conform them correctly, while also discovering some tricks to maintain continuity throughout your work.

Move on to working on a video clip, where Sonia teaches how to work in a completely different way using your own audiovisual footage. See how to play with color more freely and creatively, to achieve a more unusual and memorable aesthetic.

To finish, learn how to refine your sequences and export them to share them with the world.
