Every object is subject to being transformed into another, giving it a new purpose and significance. Do you want to turn an everyday ceramic object into an inspiring piece, full of style? Learn to decorate your ceramic objects with the expertise of Paula Castella –Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art and founder of Bambucito Organic Ceramics–, in this course, she will teach you various decoration techniques and how to glaze in a practical and inspiring way.

You will learn ceramic enameling techniques such as cover glazing, on deck and third fire, with easy-to-use materials at home. This course is complementary to her previous course: Ceramics at home for beginners, where Paula teaches to work with clay from scratch and in your own house.

Description

Learn the techniques to decorate and transform basic ceramic objects into unique pieces

You will start by getting to know Paula and her artistic career, to when she became a professional potter and started teaching. You will see some of her most representative work to inspire you, as well as her main references and how she supports and promotes the work she admires.

Next, you will discover all the materials you need to decorate your pieces such as enamels in suspension, waxes, pencils, transfer papers, and tiles.
You will learn what it means to glaze under ceramic cover and you will start with the first technique, that of gouache. Then you will learn the technique of bubbles, decoration through transfers, use of waxes and chalk, and the technique of "faults".

You will continue with the glaze on deck and third fire. You will see what both terms mean, the differences between both decorative techniques and the materials you need to carry them out, such as suspended enamels, gold and silver luster, oxides, and fats.

Then you will work with the on-deck technique, playing with vegetable paper and stains on a freshly glazed piece. Then you will learn the technique of the third fire using vitrifiable decals, placing gold and silver luster, and how to decorate with fats.

To finish, you will apply everything learned on a piece you previously created or purchased. Paula will recommend what kind of pieces you can make to make it easier for you to set your imagination free and, also, will tell you how you should store your pieces to ensure they stay intact for many years.
