Calligraphy and Lettering for Custom Garments

Begin the course with an introduction to your teacher, Iván Caíña. He tells you about how he transformed his passion for letters into his profession and shares some of his latest work and biggest influences. He also gives you an overview of the content covered in each unit.

Start with some basic concepts for learning calligraphy before you even pick up a marker. Go over the tools you need to complete the final project.

Then, it's time to design your alphabet. Iván shares some handwriting tips and tricks followed by exercises to practice your line work. Once you feel comfortable, design each letter from A to Z in upper and lowercase. Practice your rhythm and spacing and experiment with different variations and compositions.

Now that you’ve got the technique down, apply what you've learned and customize your jacket. Find inspiration for your design by creating a mood board and use it to create an outline. Transfer your design to tracing paper and put the final touches on it.
