First impressions are crucial, which is why business cards are a key part of a brand's visual identity. Join graphic designer and art director David Espinosa and discover how to attract news clients with a design piece that fits in your pocket.
In this course, learn how to create the perfect business card with the power to make an instant connection between the person who receives it and your brand and message. And if you want to learn more about visual identity for brands, David will teach you all about it in Creation of a Corporate Identity Manual.
Description
Start the course by getting to know your teacher. David tells you about his professional background and shares some of his sources of inspiration, including work from other designers, innovative studios, and even the grocery store with its wide variety of products.
Next, learn about the history of business cards, how they have evolved over time, and why they are important in branding. Go over the key features of a business card in both physical and digital format. Using this information, create a mood board where you outline your project.
Work on several different design approaches and upload your sketches into Illustrator. Then, create basic mock-ups in Photoshop and choose the most powerful design. Once you've decided on a final design, create a presentation for your portfolio and social media as well as a digital version of your card.
In the last unit, David gives you some practical advice to keep in mind before sending your cards off for printing. Finally, he shows you step by step how to prepare and export the final file to send to a client or directly to the print shop.
